Aston Barclay has hired Richard Cross as its new group sales director. The appointment is expected to help its push for both physical and digital sales.

Cross has over 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry working for retail dealerships, suppliers and remarketing companies.

During this period he has worked in multiple positions, including head of manufacturer, head of corporate, and director of dealer sales.

The new appointment said: “I have been watching Aston Barclay’s reinvention of the remarketing sector with great interest and am very excited to now be part of this revolution.

“My job is to work with our existing customers and to support a range of new vendor clients about the group’s ability to provide an independent, personal and flexible service underpinned by the very latest digital technology,”.

Aston Barclay’s new group sales director has significant experience within the remarketing sector, building working relationships with colleagues and customers across many vendor sectors.

Cross will have three sales managers reporting to him, and this team will be expected to utilise the wide range of digital products as well as its physical auction, in order to maximise sales across the board.

Neil Hodson, CEO at Aston Barclay, said: “Having a dedicated sales lead is a key part of our growth strategy and we are confident that Richard’s experience and leadership skills will help take our sales volumes to the next level.”

The appointment follows its renewal of its contract with Hatfields Group.

In 2017, Aston Barclay revealed its plan to double its sales by 2022.
