CitySprint recruiting 300 new couriers as demand increases

CitySprint has announced that it is looking for 300 additional couriers across the UK with the business focussing primarily on those with small and large vans as well as zero emission vehicles in larger areas.

The call for new couriers comes as the business continues to see significant uplifts in key logistics sectors.

The new couriers will be added to the pool of over 2,500 vans, bikes and cars, as CitySprint continues to grow its business and win new clients.

They will provide support across all areas of the business, with a focus on supporting growth in retail sectors.

The couriers are required across the UK, with a particular need in the following cities: Oxford; Cardiff; Bristol; Reading; Norwich; Warwick; Guildford; and Glasgow.

Mark Footman, chief operating officer at CitySprint, said: “Despite a commendable 3.4 million deliveries in the past year, we want to strengthen our fleet further to ensure we can continue providing the best possible service over the busy summer months.”

In addition, CitySprint is looking to employ drivers for their electric vehicles as they continue to expand their overall electric vehicle fleet to over 200 by the end of 2023.

Manheim and Novuna’s yearly physical auction to offer 175 LCVs

An annual light commercial vehicle (LCV) auction, held on behalf of Novuna Vehicle Solutions, will take place on July 7 at Novuna’s Trowbridge HQ from 10.30am.

Some 175 LCVs will go under the hammer with a combined value of £2.5 million.

Each year, Novuna and Manheim auctions raise thousands for good causes, as a portion of every sale goes to charity.

July’s auction will raise money for Shelter, Cox Automotive’s charity partner for the coming year. It is hoped the sum raised will exceed last year’s £8,000 figure.

Matthew Davock, director of commercial vehicles at Cox Automotive, said: “Stock quality on the day is simply eye-watering with an average mileage of just 52,000 miles, 72% of the sale entry being metallic paint and all hand selected.

“A stock selection consisting of high-specification 4x4 pickups, ambulances, minibuses, EVs, crew vans and panel vans of the highest quality gives buyers a huge choice on the day.”

Free food and refreshments are planned for the day and bidders who can’t attend physically will be able to take part virtually via Manheim Simulcast.

Premier Paper strikes fleet deal for Renault Trucks with Hexagon Leasing

Premier Paper has taken delivery of five new Renault Trucks T480 Turbo Compound tractor units from Hexagon Leasing.

The company which operates a nationwide network of stockholding branches and a fleet of 120 vehicles, teamed up with Hexagon after its previous supplier pulled out of the UK truck market in 2022, leaving Premier exposed and in need of support.

Adrian Fraser, Premier’s fleet manager, said: “We went through an extensive tender review to look at other options available rather than the usual vehicle offering that we would choose.

“We found Hexagon to be the right partnership for Premier, offering an excellent level of customer support and dealing with our requirements with a reliable efficiency.”

Hexagon supplied Premier with five new Renault Trucks tractor units, which are fitted with Renault Trucks’ Optivision geo-mapping software that stores road topography to optimise gear changes and speed, further improving fuel efficiency.

David Hodgkinson, head of sales at Hexagon Leasing, said: “We worked closely with Adrian to ensure we totally understood their operational requirements in order to deliver the right solution for their business, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow this partnership and meet their needs.”

The trucks were supplied to Hexagon by Renault Trucks dealer, JDS Truck & Van and this is the first time Premier have chosen Renault trucks, having previously used DAF Trucks.

TrustFord chooses System Edström to equip all-electric mobile service van

System Edström has handed over the first electric van fully equipped with System Edström racking to TrustFord Mobile Service.

The van, which will be used in the Heathrow area of Greater London, was delivered to TrustFord’s centre in Hayes.

TrustFord chose to work with System Edström because of the company’s expertise in providing complete racking and power solutions for electric vehicles.

James Bacon, head of mobile service at TrustFord, said: “We have a great working partnership with System Edström and the product is exactly what we need.

“It was important we worked with a partner who understands the needs of our aftersales technicians while they are on the road.”

He continued: “It is early days and the feedback from those experiencing this vehicle will be key to scoping out our next steps, but we are excited about the opportunities this will bring.

“Many of TrustFord’s sites are centred in major UK cities and the link to helping the environment through a bigger fleet of all electric mobile service vehicles in built up areas and beyond is clear.”
