Tesla has cancelled the production of Model S and X variants in right-hand-drive, opting to sell only left-hand-drive versions of the cars in the UK.

The Model S and Model X were removed from sale in December 2021, to enable the manufacturer to concentrate on the growing demand for its cheaper Model 3 and Model Y cars.

Ordering for the updated Model S and Model Y was re-opened last summer and customers who reserved a car have now been contacted and told that right-hand-drive will not be possible.

The new models feature updated interiors and feature a central 17-inch touchscreen. Currently, only the range-topping Plaid version is available in the UK.

Customers have been offered to switch their order to a Model 3 or Model Y and will receive a £2,000 credit.

A series of test drives events will be hosted at the end of May to allow prospective buyers to try a left-hand-drive vehicle before comitting to their order.

At the start of the year, Tesla slashed the pricing for its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
