The Range Rover Velar will be re-launched as an electric vehicle (EV) as part of a wider overhaul of JLR's line-up.

Production of the new Velar will take place at the car maker's Halewood plant, which is being re-configured to produce cars based on an all-new EV platform.

JLR expects to start production of the new Velar before 2025, according to Autocar.

Technical details of the new model are yet to be revealed, but JLR has said the platform will feature floor-mounted batteries, 800V architecture and achieve efficiency of 4-4.5mi/kWh.

The Evoque and Discovery Sport will also be re-launched as electric models and be built alongside the Velar, The timeline for these models is yet to be confirmed.

Electric versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will launch next year.

Jaguar will also expand its line-up of electric cars by 2025, with the launch of a new four-door GT car.
