The AA has launched AA Mobile Mechanics, a new on-demand product that will enable fleets to have their vehicles serviced without the need to visit a garage.

AA Mobile Mechanics are able to carry out manufacture servicing as well as full and interim services at a location of the driver’s choice, be it at home or at work.

The new service will initially be trialled across Manchester and Birmingham.

James Hosking, managing director of AA Prestige, Autocentres and Garage Services, said: “Our new mobile servicing offer will help drivers keep their show on the road by offering garage level maintenance away from the repair shop.

“Many drivers don’t have time to go to the garage and often it is difficult to get a loan car, so using AA Mobile Mechanics means we can let people carry on with their day while our experts do all the hard work.”

The new service comes after the AA urged fleets to book MOT slots now with centres expected to be maxed out in the coming weeks.

November will be the busiest month for MOTs this year, due the spread of new vehicle registrations and legacy MOT deferrals caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to analysis by AA Prestige.

Recent DVSA data shows that 28% of all cars and vans fail their MOT, while the failure rate for Class 7 vehicles sits at 36%.
