Trakm8 has announced that it is to supply vehicle tracking and driver behaviour monitoring services to utility company Scottish Power.

The initial four-year contract will see Trakm8 providing telematics and data solutions for Scottish Power’s fleet vehicles, which are often required to work in extreme weather conditions. Telematics are expected to play an integral part in improving the operational efficiency and management of the company’s technical fleet.

John Moore, vehicle maintenance manager of Scottish Power, said: “We undertook a rigorous supplier selection process and have selected, what we believe, to be the best value telematics solution for us. We are looking forward to the benefits of increased safety solutions and fuel saving initiatives.”

The vehicles will see the installation of Trakm8’s T10 telematics units which will measure driver behaviour while supplying service data and underlying vehicle health faults. They will also be provided with Trakm8’s Econ Lightbar; an in-cab device which provides visual and audible driving style feedback to drivers in real time.

John Watkins, executive chairman at Trakm8, said: “We have been providing telematics to major fleets for many years now but this is the first customer for our full function T10 product and Swift 6 driver profiling.”
