Redtail Telematics has announced the appointment of Andrew Little as head of UK sales to oversee the expansion of the telematics business and associated analytics, including driver scoring and crash alerting.

Little joins Redtail after holding executive positions across a number of technology and GPS providers, advancing through business development and sales management roles.

He said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Redtail as the business continues to grow, enabling me to help build on the six million telematics devices that Redtail team has already shipped to the worldwide global automotive market. I’m looking forward to expanding the customer base.”

Dr Colin Smithers, CEO and founder of Redtail, said: “Andrew’s experience will help our next phase of growth. It’s exciting for our telematics business to have someone of his calibre on board and we’re confident his work will contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.”

Redtail’s hardware and services have been deployed by insurers such as Ingenie, Direct Line, Axa, Unigarant, ATIC and Admiral.

The devices communicate how the customer is driving and poor or risky driving is identified for feedback to the driver. In the event of an accident, the insurer knows almost immediately the speed, location and direction of impact, the acceleration involved and the braking immediately before and during the accident. Redtail’s software then reconstructs the incident in the insurer’s claims room.
