Tributes have been paid to "one in a million" Simon Hill, group managing director of Total Motion, and his son Harry, who were killed in a car crash on Sunday (April 16).

Announcing the tragic news on Linked In, his wife of 30 years, Caroline Hill, said: “This is a very shocking and painful moment for everyone that had the privilege of knowing them.

“There are no words that can describe how much they mean to us, please keep them in your hearts.”

Simon Hill was well-known in the fleet sector having founded the vehicle leasing and fleet management company Total Motion in 1999.

The business, which is based in Leicestershire, was ranked 21st in last year’s FN50, with a risk fleet of 10,116 cars and vans.

Adrian Bewley, assistant vice president for European business rental at Enterprise, was among the many who paid tribute to Hill on Linked In. He said: “I do not have the words to express my sadness and sympathy to the Hill family.

“Simon you were one in a million, a friend first and business partner second.”

Colin Hutton, fleet director at the Vindis Group, wrote: I’m saddened beyond all belief to hear this news.

“I have had the real pleasure of dealing with Simon over a number of years and was a true captain of our industry.

“Someone that you had real pleasure in dealing with and will be sorely missed. My thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and work colleagues.

“Both Simon and Harry will sorely missed.”

James Comrie, MD of Close Brothers Asset Finance and Leasing, added: "I was blessed to have Simon and Harry enter my life and will always hold this close to my heart as they had become close friends."

Funeral details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
