Applied Driving Techniques (ADT) has won a recent retendering exercise to be appointed as fleet safety partner to energy firm SSE.

The competitive process saw the driver risk experts reappointed after the original three-year partnership led to significant increase in driver safety, compliance and a reduction in collisions.

Andy Phillips, ADT director for risk management, said: “We are delighted with SSE’s decision to continue our partnership and the opportunities this presents in continuing our effective driver safety management.

“It has been an incredible three years, working with a company who shares in our beliefs of creating a sustainable safety culture. We are now in a great position to build on our successes.

“Our aim lies in remaining forward-thinking, taking on board our common goal of applying the latest best practice services to better protect company drivers. The ADT Team are excited to continue the journey with SSE, developing our partnership, and looking to the many possibilities ahead.”

Mark Patterson, SSE’s group SHE manager, said the partnership with ADT was part of the company’s simple safety philosophy. “If it’s not safe, we don’t do it,” he said. “With thousands of employees driving across the country, often out of hours and in rural terrain, it’s vital our drivers have the best training, compliance and risk management team to support them so that we all get home safe.

“The three-year partnership with ADT has proven to be effective and after a robust retendering process we are looking forward to utilise ADT’s most innovative solutions to best protect our employees on the road.”
