SmartWitness will have CMS Supatrak on their stand for the CV Show this week to show how they can now add live video telematics.

The link up for has been made possible by SmartWitness' SmartAPI, which allows telematics service providers, insurance companies, and other software providers to integrate SmartWitness video and data into existing systems.

SmartWitness CEO and founder Paul Singh said: “The SmartAPI middleware works with almost every telematics system in the world, so that our cameras can be plugged into existing hardware easily and quickly.

“From there your telematics provider can offer a myriad of IoT solutions that we provide, from ADAS collision avoidance products, driver distraction systems, forward facing cameras, multi-camera systems, temperature control systems and interior cameras.”

CMS Supatrak found that when integrating with SmartAPI the forward facing SmartWitness cameras and multi-camera systems could be easily installed with little cost or vehicle downtime.  The integrated hardware was up and running in a matter of hours, it said.

Jason Airey, MD of CMS Supatrak, said: “We are happy to be teaming up with SmartWitness to provide live video functionality to our offering.

“The concern was always that this should be low cost and quick to install for our existing customers. SmartAPI middleware makes this simple to do.”

He added: “The SmartWitness system works with all versions of Supatrak hardware and software, and can be up and running in hours.

“Live video adds context to a telematics system so that better analysis of driver behaviour can be achieved. The video footage means that false positives can be ruled out and the context of driving behaviour can be checked properly.

“Also, there is an improved FNOL for insurers, who are provided with high resolution footage and G-force data immediately an incident occurs.”
