SPENDING so much time behind the wheel of various cars gives a Fleet News tester plenty of time for reflection on the merits or otherwise of particular models.

On climbing aboard a Ford Transit the other week I was pleased to find it had built-in to the dash a mobile phone holder and it started me wondering why so few cars boast such a facility.

Time after time I take the keys to a new car and find myself looking in vain for a suitable cubby hole in which to put my trusty Nokia.

However, with the Volvo S60, I have solved this problem. The ping-out coffee cup holder on the dash provides just the right amount of room for a phone, while the gaps in the side allow for the charging wire to feed through to the cigarette lighter.

Meanwhile, the heated seats are proving a great asset, especially to my girlfriend, who refuses to turn hers off, even though I swear I can smell burning after a few miles!
