Retirement home developer McCarthy and Stone has launched the AlphaCity car sharing scheme at one of its developments in Cumbria.

Residents  received training from Alphabet’s experts on its unique in-built technology.

Fiona Brooks, sales and marketing Director at McCarthy & Stone said: “This scheme has been fundamental in offering our Homeowners a fantastic alternative to owning a car, it gives them the freedom to have flexible use of transport without the responsibility of owning a car.

"For us, AlphaCity car sharing is the most cost effective way to ensure our homeowners are able to keep appointments, go shopping, visit family and generally continue to live a great quality of life. I would like to thank Alphabet for providing the service and helping us educate our Homeowners’ in how to use the on-board technology.”

Chris Cole, corporate account manager at Alphabet added: “Providing an AlphaCity car to McCarthy and Stone was a fresh challenge for us as we move into a new area of business. We were conscious that the right form of transport could change Homeowner’s lives in retirement and wanted to ensure we provided the right solution.

"We worked closely with McCarthy & Stone in implementing AlphaCity to make sure that both staff and Homeowners were educated on how to use the keyless technology and booking system – this makes their lives easier and boosts confidence in the scheme. We are able to help keep Homeowners on the road safely and efficiently for the business, and most importantly, the individual.”

Alphabet has been working on a sole supply basis with McCarthy & Stone since 2009 for company cars, with the company taking contract hire with maintenance, AlphaRent, accident management, and driver risk services.
