Job Purpose:
To effectively manage all aspects of fleet compliance and ensure cost efficient fleet maintenance through direct liaison with service providers, suppliers, workshop activities and driver trainers. To ensure all areas of the company O licence are fully complied with.
Key Tasks:
Support the operational teams to ensure that at all times all vehicles meet the required standard as stated by the Department of Transport.
Liaise with service providers and suppliers ensuring good working relationships are formed and maintained and that vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.
Conduct random audits on worked carried out by service providers.
Ensure that any discrepancies found during this audit are actioned and followed up through to completion.
Monitor and review vehicle repair costs in particular high one off and MOT costs.
Ensure vehicles meet all scheduled inspections, in line with both company and legal requirements.
Manage the activities of the workshops and fitters work loads ensuring that the demands of the business are met, whilst also managing the Health & Safety culture within workshops and striving to continually improve.
Ensure all aspects of the company O licence are compliant, relevant notifications sent in a timely manner and the number of vehicles and trailers at eah operating site are accurate.
Ensure that all vehicles are suitably taxed, insured and that any other certification is kept up to date (eg Loler, tachograph calibrations etc).
Ensure that all tyres are in a roadworthy condition, regular tyre checks conducted, casings controlled and the efficient management of the tyre fitter(s).
Monitor and review fleet KPI`s to improve vehicle efficiencies, compliance and costs.
Effective container management in regards to container refurbishment and repair.
Work with and support the operations team with driver and vehicle legal compliance (tachographs, WTD, on time servicing, insurance claims etc).
Ensure that all road traffic collisions are fully investigated and reported to the insurance broker.
Manage the activities of the driver trainer(s).
Assist with the specification of new vehicles and equipment. Ensure that end of life vehicles are either sold or disposed of effectively.
Manage the FORS accreditations and strive for improvements.
Support the implementation of any fleet processes, such as a Fleet Compliance system and to responsibly maintain accuracy of any Fleet Systems.
Ensure that fleet systems and databases are kept up to date and document processes are met (e.g. MOT records, on-time service records).
Provide technical expertise, where required, making decisions within cost management.
Manage and support the maintenance strategy, internally and externally.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
Educated to A-level standard or equivalent experience.
Good IT literacy.
Waste Management Industry knowledge or logistics background, managing large fleets of vehicles.
CPC (National) Road Haulage.
IOSH Managing Safely or similar.
Strong man management and communication skills.
Must have expert knowledge of road transport legislation.
Membership of the chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, EngTech qualification, LGV licence.
Membership of The Institute of Road Transport Engineers and/or Society of Operational Engineers.
Engineering Qualifications (City & Guilds parts 1-3).
Vehicle Mechanic - good knowledge of vehicle specifications.
Manufacturers training on chassis and bodies / equipment.
Ability to advise on Safety of Vehicles
