The Executive Network Group’s Logistics & Transport Division are recruiting for a General Transport Manager across haulage to join our client in Norwich.

The role of General Transport Manager is to actively plan and execute the storage, collection and delivery schedules via whatever might be the most cost efficient and cost-effective means, in line within business objectives, customer service levels and legislative requirements.

Scope of the role
• Fleet of around 50 with an operation circa 100 employees
• Lead on the full utilisation of IT systems and vehicles to ensure accurate and appropriate allocation of driver/vehicle/loads/trailers to improve both the efficiency of the department and the wider Group
• Provide leadership and motivation to your team to build an effective and engaged workforce resulting in improved productivity and sustained customer service levels
• Lead on the recruitment and the training and development of your department to ensure you have the right people, in the right roles, at the right time
• Build, grow and maintain effective working relationships with key stake holders within both the business and the Group to promote partnership working and improve operational efficiency
• Create, promote and implement clear communication channels with internal departments and external customers to improve KPI's and the profitability of the business
• Monitor all information and ensure that it is up to date and held in a secure location in order to comply with the GDPR legislation
• Lead on the effective management of driver hours by authorising driver timesheets on a weekly basis and auditing and updating hours against the relevant systems to guarantee they are compliant to all regulations
• Produce and audit relevant KPI's for the department and evaluate trends to continually improve processes and procedures
• Lead on maintaining clear communication between colleagues and drivers to ensure customer KPI's and targets are achieved and maintained, to include driver debriefs, manifest review and updates to any amendment/notes
• Lead on the implementation and management of safe working practices, general housekeeping and manage audits from both external and internal clients to ensure the company is compliant
• Build a strong new business pipeline of opportunity alongside commercial team, with incorporates both the growth of Company and Group services and which offers excellent revenue opportunity and margin growth
• Maximise vehicle utilisation by implementing continuous improvement techniques to enhance profit margins
• Monitor driver's hours and working time in line with current legislation
• Ensure that all undertakings and adhered as part of the Operator Licence compliance

Essential Experience
• Working knowledge of the Highway Code
• Knowledge of EU tachograph requirements, Working Time Regulations, Road Transport Regulations
• Commercial awareness
• Working knowledge of transport operation systems
• Strong Geographic knowledge
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
• Certificate of Professional Competence (International CPC) is essential or equivalent
• Relevant transport management experience
• Experience managing and developing a team of employees
• Experience analysing and solving logistical problems
