An exciting opportunity for an experienced Logistics Manager to join a growing and ambitious business with a great history. The business pride themselves on the quality and efficiency of their approach, which brings loyalty from their customer base.
The role holder will be responsible for all operational aspects of logistics support in managing inbound shipments from suppliers, outbound shipments to customers as well as shipments between different warehouses.
Develop relationships with freight forwarders and courier firms to assist the Sales and Procurement Teams in achieving their commercial objectives. Obtaining quotes from and negotiating with transport companies.
* Provide exemplary support to the Sales and Procurement Teams by ensuring that inbound and outbound shipments are received or sent on or in advance of time and in a cost-effective manner (measured against KPIs).
* Making sure that all shipments are compliant with Good Distribution Practice, internal SOPs and requirements of insurance policies
* Proactively resolving any issues with delayed, missing or damaged shipments, liaising as necessary with Sales Managers, Quality and Procurement, recording the incidents and carrying out a root cause analysis
* Compiling logistics records, including shipping documentation (airway bills, proof of export and delivery and ensuring documentation is compliant with export regulations and internal SOPs and ready for external audit, prior to archive.
* Assisting the Warehouse Manager and his team with the checking in, picking, packing and dispatching of products.
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following:
* Minimum 5 years’ logistics experience, with experience in an export environment
* Knowledge of incoterms, customs procedures and import/export documentation.
* Experience of air, road and maritime freight carriage
* Experience transporting temperature sensitive (cool chain, controlled ambient or frozen) products as well as hazardous goods.
* Good knowledge of logistics within the pharmaceutical industry highly desirable
* Must be literate and numerate, ‘A’ level (or equivalent) educational standard and experienced and comfortable working with I.T. – MS Office and inventory management systems
