This job has a solid 5 year development plan, cumulating in the build of a brand new distribution centre of which you’ll be an integral part. Your job will grow in line with their forecasted growth and if you have the ambition to become a Head of Supply Chain, they will help you get there.
The immediate task in hand is to lead the Warehouse and Distribution team of 16 people, over two shifts, in what is a full pick operation.
Supply Chain issues are headline news at the moment and you’ll need to navigate these and look to protect the business ensuring OTIF to all customers.
The team are motivated and good at what they do, they are experienced but they want more support to facilitate their own development and improved communication to enable them to feel part of the bigger picture.
The business has longstanding relationships with their haulier partners and you’ll look to develop these further with regular meetings, benchmarking and tender activities to ensure they are competitive. In addition, you’ll implement robust KPIS to track performance. The Warehouse currently handles around 20 vehicles a day and that is set to grow.
There are plenty of projects to work on current and planned. A big one on the horizon is the implementation of a new WMS, scheduled for quarter 1. It will automate more of the process, remove paperwork and you’ll be delivering this to the department with your team.
There’s lots of low hanging fruit in terms of inefficiencies and you’ll need to scrutinise the processes from goods in, picking right through to despatch to identify and improve on these.
The business is part of a larger global entity and as such there will be some overseas travel. Not excessive but you’ll visit other European plants to share best practice.
They organise lots of social and charity events with a very high level of participation. They have already been through an enormous and very successful period of change and there's lots more planned. This is a great job for someone who has already cut their teeth as a Logistics Manager and can demonstrate leadership across both Warehouse and Distribution but is ambitious for more.
Give me, Ali, a call if you would like to talk in more detail on (phone number removed)
