Materials & Logistics Manager (Lean Manufacturing ) - Glasgow, UK
A new vacancy for a Materials & Logistics Manager with small UK division of a global US manufacturer of precision components used in a wide range of industrial markets. Based at the company's divisional site in Glasgow, the Materials & Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading the Purchasing, Material Management and Warehouse & Logistics teams, in a multi-faceted role working in a fast-paced Lean Manufacturing environment. The role will also involve extensive interaction with both global suppliers and the company's other divisional sites in the UK and overseas.
To lead the Purchasing/ Material Management/ Warehouse & Logistics teams in support of the site's objectives in customer service, profitable growth and improved financial performance, and to support the divisional activities required to fulfil the Corporate Supply Chain Strategy
To manage and optimise inventory-holding to give exceptional service to the customer whilst meeting divisional financial objectives.
To supervise the day-to-day activities in material management to ensure inventory levels and material flow meet current and future production and service needs, as well as the warehouse activities such as pick/ pack & kitting/ preparation of orders.
Purchasing or Material Management qualifications (eg: MCIPS).
Proven track record in Supply Chain Management & supervising small supply chain teams.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
PC literate (MS Word, Excel, MRP business systems).
Lean Manufacturing background.
Proven Industrial experience in a manufacturing company - 5 years plus.
Good understanding of both commercial & financial issues.
Warehouse management & logistics import/export compliance & handling
