What will I be doing in the role?

Our Transport Manager is one of the most important roles in the business. A great Transport Manager will help keep our business running smoothly, constantly adapting their selves to the dynamic and ever-changing environment where no two days are the same. To support the business you will;

Manage all commercial vehicle movements to meet the Jewson customer value proposition
Manage a team of 3 yard staff and 5 drivers.
Planning local branch deliveries, allocating deliveries and transport movements to meet customer requirements
Manage driver resource across Business Unit to fulfill Jewson customer value proposition:
Management of driver holidays.
Support Business with regard to commercial vehicle driver recruitment.
Responsible for adherence to transport legal compliance and related EHS
Management of servicing schedule and any additional resource requirements.
Responsibility to support and resolve all transport related issues across the Business Unit, with escalation to Regional Transport Managers where requiredAdditional Requirements

There is some specific knowledge and experience we are looking for from suitable candidates;

Class 3 Driving Licence
Relevant market and product knowledge
Relevance experience within the building industry and/or logistics background
Minimum of 1 year experience in an administrative environment with a high throughput
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Strong regional geographic knowledge
Proactive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude
IT literate
Able to create and maintain successful relationships
Able to handle difficult situations and diffuse conflict
Resource (specifically driver) management
Knowledge of the local area
Management of EHS standards
Transport legislation
Literate and numerate
Data management
