We are exclusively partnering with a Furniture distribution company in their search for a Transport Manager to join their ever-growing business.

As a senior manager within with in the business, the transport manager role is key to the companies continued growth and development. Based at their national distribution centre, you will be leading a team of office and delivery staff, responsible for all things transport.

Our client believe in putting their customer first. The success of this role will rely heavily on your ability to network and engage with our customer success team, warehouse operations and wider business departments. They hold weekly trading meetings where they present and update their peers on departmental performance.

Hours of Work: 9.30 AM to 18:00PM

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications
Maintaining and completing accurate records
Keeping schedules and organising team members
Making sure vehicles are properly maintained, arranging repairs and routine maintenance
Liaising with workshops and manufacturers to maximise vehicle uptime
Ensuring relevant legislation is followed by drivers and wider team. This includes but is not limited to all Tacho/hours legislation and other O licence related activities
Management of the planning function to support the most efficient and effective routes
Full HR responsibility for the transport team (closely supported by the HR department)
Development and training of office and delivery staff, including 1-2-1s, coaching and appraisals
Management of KPI's
Maintain the Earned Recognition Scheme
Support and provide assistance with ad-hoc projects
Monthly "tool box" meetings with the driving workforce raising awareness around topical issues
Liaising with different departments and business functions to support all aspects of first-time right delivery ethos
Implement and continuously improve process and procedures
Carry out compliance and H&S audits
Tenacious approach towards departmental coverageThe ideal candidate:

Experience in Business to Consumer deliveries
CPC National or International (preferred)
Experience of running a transport operation
Strong geographic understanding of the UK and Ireland to support management of planning
Customer centric approach
Experience of operating an LCV and LGV fleet
Knowledge of transport planning systems
Competent use of MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
