Transport Supervisor

Purpose of the role: The purpose of this role is to effectively manage the day to day transport operation to ensure that all key KPIs, legal requirements and company standards are adhered to. The successful candidate will have experience of managing a busy transport operation daily. Experience of change management is essential as the role will involve development of processes and procedures to improve all areas of the transport operation.

Key accountabilities:

-Effectively manage the daily transport operation, making maximum use of all available resources.

-Commercial awareness, ensuring that the transport team operates within budget, reducing costs and supporting the acquisition of new business

-Manage and develop communications with customers, departments and within the transport team to ensure that these are effective, accurate and timely.

-Liaise with key stakeholders to maintain and develop processes and procedures.

-Maintain and develop effective relationships with key customers, developing and adjusting strategy to meet requirements.

-Ensure On time, cost and service target KPIs are adhered to.

-Ensure the transport operation fulfils its obligations relating to the Operators licence.

-Manage usage of the fleet effectively to ensure service schedules and maintenance are effectively controlled.

-Utilise tracking systems to manage fleet utilisation, on time performance and driver behaviours. ? Evaluate the benefits and costs of varying delivery strategies.

-Develop the existing transport team through training, coaching and motivation.

-Management of HR process, inclusive of recruitment, absence management, performance and disciplinary process and procedures.

-Deliver and develop training essentials through Tool box talks, one to ones and driver briefings.

-Promote and manage Health & Safety.

Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills

-Experience of transport operations and management

-Experience of transport management systems for planning and driver management

-Computer literate, competent user of Microsoft applications.

-Effective presentation and communication experience.

-Customer service- direct customer relationship building

-Experience of leadership, minimum 2 years at supervisory level.

-Knowledge of road transport regulations
