An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Manager to join a leading engineering service provider to the utility sector.
This is a full-time position based in Dagenham, Essex.
The role will be Mon - Fri starting at 0600 and typically finishing around 1600.
The salary on offer is up to £60K plus £5K company car allowance (or company car).
Core responsibilities will be to (but not limited to):
Fulfil all 'O' License requirements and obligations
Directly manage and organise a team of 18 staff - made up of 15 Lorry drivers and 3 transport department staff
Ensure all drivers have correct and up to date qualifications and that drivers / transport department staff are adequately trained for their respective positions
Manage (including leasing arrangements) a fleet of 30 - 40 company cars, 40 + company branded Vans, and 15 Class 2 Lorries
Organise vehicle spot checks, defect reporting, maintenance schedules and ad hoc repairs to the fleet
Ensure that all transport department documentation is robust and accurate
Ensure compliance in relation to Transport and Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) policy and procedures
Work with the SHEQ team to ensure company SHEQ and transport targets are achieved
Ensure daily communication with site agents, contract managers, project managers regarding transport requirements
Provide and implement strategic advice to Directors, Senior Management Team and Operational staff on transport requirements and complianceMandatory Qualifications and Experience:
At least 5 years + Transport Manager experience managing 10 + drivers, and maintaining a sizeable fleet
Transport Managers CPC
CILT Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and transport
Full UK Driving License including Cat C (Class 2)
Drivers CPC
Our client is looking for an individual who:
Has good people management skills
Has a passion for ensuring compliance
Places importance in the Health & Safety of company staff, vehicles, and the members of the public they could encounter
Has strong communications skills - both written and verbal
Is proficient with use of computers and typical business software such as Outlook, etc.
Is confident presenting to large groups of people i.e. safety briefings and to Directors and the Senior Management Team
Is trustworthy and displays discretion when handling confidential information
Has a proactive attitude
Is available to start within 4 weeks of a job offer
