ROLE: Transport Manager
My client is a major organisation in the waste management sector. They are engaged in total waste management, with their own transport facilities they can offer a full and comprehensive service to potential customers.
You will be responsible for a fleet of HGV and Industrial vehicles and divers and sub contracted vehicles and drivers
Give work instructions and monitor the performance of drivers and operatives, i.e. briefing/debriefing during course of working day
Ensure safe vehicle operations, wheel security, monitor vehicle gross weights etc.
Ensure fleet compliance with transport and environmental legislation
Contribute toward on-going cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
Ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss reporting and emergency procedures
Ensure team complete all tachograph records and feedback on any infringements. You will have a good knowledge of legislation (CPC Road Haulage would be ideal)
CPC / Certificate of Professional Competence Qualified National or International or European Road Haulage.
You will have excellent planning skills
You will be extremely committed and have stability in previous roles
Experience of running vehicle and driver compliance.
You will have had experience in some capacity a transport role e.g. fleet, dispatch, distribution or logistics operation. You may have been a Logistics Supervisor / Transport Manager / Transport operations / Distribution Planner / Dispatcher / Multi Drop Courier / Traffic Controller / Military Logistics Officer
You will have excellent IT skills and a good working knowledge of MS Office, ideally working with formulas on Excel.
Good communication an
d organisation skills.
Good MS Office skills and ideally exposure to PC based route planning packages
Beneficial Qualifications (but not essential):
Health and Safety ideally IOSH Managing / Supervising Safely or NEBOSH
