THE Retail Motor Industry Federation has restructured its Bodyshop Services Division to move it closer to its members. As part of a plan to devote additional management resources to the body repair industry, the National Franchised Dealers Association and Independent Garage Association will take control of services the BSD provides to companies who are already members of these associations.

RMI bodyshops director Robert Hadfield's responsibilities remain unaltered, but general manager Alan Bird has been made redundant. RMI chief executive Christopher Macgowan said: 'The accident repair business is a specialist business and is evolving rapidly. As part of our overall policy of 'working smarter' the BSD is rightly moving closer to its members so that it can offer a faster and more focused service.'
