THE decline in fleet diesel sales has stabilised, following a drop in sales most months throughout 1996.

Last month fleet diesel sales dropped 3.4% on October 1995 levels to 16,323 (16,902) out of a total diesel market up 0.5% at 29,090 (28,940). Total diesel sales in the first 10 months of 1996 are 326,077 (362,503), down 10%, of which fleet diesel sales are down 3.5% at 184,001 (190,656).

Top 10 best-selling fleet diesel manufacturers in October were: Peugeot 3,878, Ford 3,200, Vauxhall 2,921, Rover 2,132, Volkswagen 1,259, Citroen 1,100, Renault 632, Audi 386, Toyota 218, Nissan 169.

Top 10 best-selling fleet diesel models in October were: Ford Mondeo, 1,861; Peugeot 406, 1,585; Vauxhall Astra, 1,394; Peugeot 306, 1,383; Rover 400, 935; Vauxhall Vectra, 924; Volkswagen Golf, 904; Ford Escort, 720; Citroen Xantia, 675; Rover 200, 468.
