DIESEL versions of the Fiat Punto have been revised to meet new European Commission noise and exhaust emissions regulations and, as a result, prices have increased.

The 1.7 litre turbo diesel Punto TD SX costing £9,606 on the road for the three-door version and £9,987 for the five-door model has been replaced by the TD 70 SX costing £9,707 for the three-door model and £10,088 for the five-door. The new model uses a similar engine but now features exhaust gas recirculation and an oxidising catalyst.

Meanwhile, the normally aspirated 1.7 litre Punto D S, costing £8,452 on the road as a three-door and £8,772 as a five-door model, has been replaced by the TD 60 S costing £8,542 and £8,923 respectively, which uses a low-pressure turbocharged version of the revised 1.7 litre engine.
