MORE than 25% of all drivers have been tempted by other drivers to resort to 'road rage', even though only 5% had been on the receiving end of an actual attack. MIL Motoring Research, part of NOP Research Group, questioned 476 drivers about their behaviour behind the wheel.

Its findings follow reports of growing awareness and fear of road rage (Fleet News May 24), and high profile incidents, including a murder.

NOP found that 26% of all drivers have felt like resorting to physical violence towards other drivers - although in the case of male drivers this rose to one in three, compared to 15% for female drivers. And younger drivers, aged 17-24, were more susceptible to violent thoughts.
