Volkswagen taxis in for Sharan airport deal

THE Chelmsford Cab Company and its subsidiary, Stansted Airport Taxis, has signed a fleet deal with Volkswagen for 60 Sharan MPVs a year over a three year period.

The company has been awarded the sole contract by the British Airports Authority to provide an airport-based taxi service at Stansted, London's third airport. Stansted Airport Taxis runs almost 200 vehicles and has chosen the seven-seat Sharan CL to shuttle passengers between home, hotel and airport.

While the initial contract is for 60 Sharans a year, totalling 180 over three years, the figure could increase. The contract was negotiated by Chris Hawken, Volkswagen's regional fleet manager south, and the vehicles will be supplied through the fleet department of dealer Nigel Grogan of Chelmsford.
