The company has been awarded the sole contract by the British Airports Authority to provide an airport-based taxi service at Stansted, London's third airport. Stansted Airport Taxis runs almost 200 vehicles and has chosen the seven-seat Sharan CL to shuttle passengers between home, hotel and airport.

While the initial contract is for 60 Sharans a year, totalling 180 over three years, the figure could increase. The contract was negotiated by Chris Hawken, Volkswagen's regional fleet manager south, and the vehicles will be supplied through the fleet department of dealer Nigel Grogan of Chelmsford.
