FORD has announced prices for the new Maverick 4x4 sports utility vehicle which goes on sale later this month. The new slimmed down range starts at £17,650 for the 2.4-litre short wheelbase GLS model, rising to £21,450 for the long wheelbase 2.7 litre turbo diesel.

Although at the top of the range the new Maverick is cheaper than the old model, the entry level model goes up by more than £1,000. The latest Maverick features extensive revisions over the outgoing model and has been designed to appeal to people looking for an attractive but rugged 4x4 vehicle combining refined on-road performance with the ability to cope with demanding off-road conditions. The 2.7 turbo diesel is also 25% more powerful than the old model.
