AUDI prices will rise by 1.75% from September 2 but the company will hold the A3 prices announced in July and all A6 models escape the increase. The Audi A8 2.8 and 3.7 non-Sport models are also unaffected by the rise. This is the first Audi price increase this year and all models affected by the rise ordered before September 2 will be price-protected.

Audi has also released details of its 1997 model year changes. The A8 gains four side airbags integrated into the seat backs along with remote control central locking and an interior switch to activate the central locking. On the A4, aluminium trim strips now frame the side windows (on six cylinder, front wheel drive models only) and there's an aspherical driver's mirror, modified rear light cluster and a new door sill trim strip. Inside, the A4 gains an air-recirculation feature and a security key with 'internal track' - offering added security.

Factory-fitted options will increase by 2.5% on all models with the exception of the A3 range. The delivery charge will also increase from £425 to £470.
