MORE than 100 submissions have been made by fleet industry companies for the 11 service company awards in the 1997 Fleet News Awards. The award categories are: Best New Service Award, Best New Product Award, Customer Service Award, Training Award, Best Contract Hire Company Award, Best Fleet Management Company Award, Best Rental Company Award, Best Disposal Company Award, Best Fast-Fit Company Award, Best Breakdown and Recovery Company Award and the Quality Award.

The awards will be presented on March 26 in front of more than 1,000 people from across the fleet industry at London's Grosvenor House Hotel along with awards to vehicle manufacturers in the 11 car and van award categories, seven fleet manager awards and the Special Award.

Judging takes place next month at Henley Management College when Peter Cooke, head of the college's centre for automotive management, chairs a panel comprising Ashley Martin, Fleet News/Fleet Car editor-in-chief Mark Catterall, Stewart Whyte, managing director of Fleet Audits and a Fleet News columnist, and Fleet News award-winning fleet chiefs Eddie West, of Honeywell Control Systems, Roy Edgington, of the Royal Mail, and Ian Markham, of Comet.
