LUGGAGE retailer Salisbury's has switched from outright purchase to contract hiring cars for its field-based personnel in a single badge deal with Citroen. The nationwide company is leasing six turbodiesel Citroen Xantias complete with air conditioning through Hertz Leasing.

The vehicles are on a three-year replacement cycle with maintenance and Salisbury's was primarily attracted to contract hire by the known-cost, hassle-free aspect - allowing administrative staff to get on with primary functions.

Buying director Jeff Coulthard said: 'Moving away from outright purchase has been a big step for us. We have come to contract hire as complete novices and not only has Hertz taken the time and trouble to explain every available package, but the company has also put together a very competitive package.'
