INTREPID auction boss Ron Leader found himself on top of the world when he successfully scaled the heights of Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of charity. The National Car Auctions chief executive fought off altitude sickness and exhaustion to reach the top of the peak after a gruelling 20,000ft climb.

Describing his final assault on the summit, Leader said: 'The last 20 minutes of that climb are a blank to me and I can only remember repeating to myself, 'I am not going to quit'. He is expected to raise about £40,000 for the NSPCC and Williams Syndrome Foundation thanks to sponsorship from Ford, Vauxhall Master Hire, CAP Motor Research, Mitsubishi Motors and more than 50 other corporate sponsors - the majority from the fleet industry.
