THE fifth vehicle in the Renault Megane family - the cabriolet - will go on sale in the UK on June 1 following its preview at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The Megane cabriolet will come with a choice of a 2.0-litre 16v 150bhp engine or the 90bhp 1.6e unit found in the Megane coupe., which is expected to be the first choice for most motorists.

The Megane is already available as a hatchback, coupe, saloon and the Scenic activity vehicle, which is already on sale on the continent, will be available in the UK, around June. An estate version of the Megane will follow next year. The cabriolet is based on the coupe's chassis with an increase of 10cm on the rear overhang to allow for extra storage space. Prices will be announced closer to the launch date.
