KOREAN manufacturers proved at Geneva that they will be challenging more established marques in the near future. Daewoo unveiled the extraordinary Shiraz - a glimpse of its planned A100 large executive car with similar proportions to the Lexus LS 400.

The Shiraz's engine is a 'concept' 2.5-litre V8, and the car could go into production in 1999. 'This is not just a concept car, it's a serious proposal,' said a spokesman. Daewoo is planning to launch three new models at the end of 1997 - including two main fleet contenders.
