THE prison service has captured Car Fleet Control's Workshop Manager system to aid efficiency and service in its day-to-day fleet operation. In addition to vehicle and mechanical equipment handling maintenance, HM Prison Service's Fleet Engineering workshops handle research and development for specialised secure vehicles, including those used to transport prisoners.

The Home Office fleet, which includes HM Prison Service, consists of more than 1,100 vehicles, many of which are specialist conversions. The headquarters are based at Supply and Transport Services in Corby. The decision to buy workshop software for the department was prompted by the desire to be cost-effective in use of the complex resource, especially in time and stock management.
