LONDON Electricity has embarked on a major driver training programme for its 2000 drivers with IAM Fleet Training. The one-day training course will be based on one instructor per two drivers, covering classroom theory, a demonstration drive and on-road instruction.

Transport manager Robert Constant is the current holder of the Fleet News Environmental Award. He said: 'The course will be good for all London Electricity employees as it will cut down on accidents, improve fuel efficiency and keep all drivers one step ahead.'

With all the training due to be completed within two years, John Trafford, commercial manager of IAM Fleet Training, said the contract would place considerable demand on IAM's resources, but it was a demand the company was professionally geared to meet.
