VOLVO is targeting fleet operators with an initiative designed to quantify the environmental impact of its entire model range. The manufacturer unveiled the programme in the UK at the Fleet Motor Show on Tuesday and it will now be rolled out in the USA and Volvo's native Sweden.

The programme amounts to a comprehensive audit of each model's impact on the environment from production, through operation to disposal. It will provide fleet operators running Volvos with detailed information on issues such as vehicle emissions, recyclability and fuel consumption, enabling them to build up a clear picture of their environmental wholelife costs. The information will be issued in brochure form alongside a regular sales brochure, and will also be available on request direct from Volvo.

Volvo's own research suggests 58% of UK companies have environmental policies, with 92% expecting environmental pressures on their business to grow over the next three years.
