Diesel sales hold steady

FLEET diesel sales were almost unchanged last month with sales down just nine units (0.05%) at 16,753 from 16,762 in May last year in a total diesel market down 3.9% at 28,069 (May 1996: 29,197). Sales this year are down 2.32% year-on-year at 91,039 (93,199) in a total fleet diesel market down 4.07% at 152,920 (1996: 159,406).

Peugeot remains the best-selling fleet diesel manufacturer and in the 306, which has just been facelifted, had the best-selling fleet diesel car last month, although it is narrowly behind the Ford Mondeo in being the best-selling fleet diesel car in 1997.
