THE Vauxhall Vectra has maintained its position as the cheapest upper medium car to repair, in a special edition of the VELO Fleet Insurance Report. VELO published the figures to coincide with the results of the European New Car Assessment Programme, in which family sized cars were crashed tested.

VELO handles some £30 million of repairs annually, and analysis of these has revealed the average repair cost of a Vectra was £630.56, compared to £648.08 for the Ford Mondeo, £788.79 for the Nissan Primera, £804.20 for the Rover 600, £825.92 for the Citroen Xantia, and £852.45 for the Renault Laguna.
