MOTORWAY Tyre & Auto Centres has promoted Paul Harrell to managing director, replacing David Openshaw, who resigned by mutual agreement with the company. Harrell joined Motorway two years ago as sales director, and has nearly 20 years of experience within the fast fit sector. He has been behind Motorway's £15 million restructuring and investment programme, started in April, which has placed particular emphasis on fleet business.

'My first consideration when I arrived was to put Motorway on to fleet operators' shopping lists,' said Harrell. 'The company restructuring and mobile service has gone a long way to achieving that objective and we have acquired some fleet account gains that only a few years ago we never dreamed possible. Now the objective is to put Motorway's name at the top of those lists.'

Motorway's mobile fleet now stands at 134 vehicles, and more are scheduled. Among its major corporate customers the mobile service already accounts for over 40% of tyre replacements, many of them carried out when the car is in a dealership for a routine service.
