PEUGEOT has increased its car prices by an average of 0.71% across the range - including the yet to be launched 306 estate. The move is the latest in a series of seasonal price increases and follows similar rises by among others Ford, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen.

The changes include a degree of realignment and specification enhancements and many of the central 406 models remain unchanged or even fall in price. Fleets which placed orders for the 306 estate based on the indicative prices announced in July will have those honoured, but new customers will have to pay up to £140 extra.

The Peugeot 406 1.8LX with air conditioning is now £90 cheaper, at £15,110 on the road, while the 406 1.9LX DT has stayed the same price. All 406 GLX and SRI models now have air conditioning (in lieu of a sunroof) as standard equipment, and alloy wheels are added as standard to all 406 GLX models. But the cost of the 406GLX 2.0 with air conditioning has risen by £150 to £17,130 on the road. Lower down the range, the 106 XLD three- and five-door versions receive power-assisted steering as standard.
