TRANSLEASE, the computer-based repair authorisation and invoice forwarding system, has received a boost with news of a successful six-month pilot project run by Motability Finance. The organisation has been trialling Translease on a test fleet of 7,000 cars, and will continue to do so, but has not yet decided whether to extend the system to the whole of its 350,000-strong fleet.

Six key customers - PHH Vehicle Management Services, Lex Vehicle Leasing, Highway Vehicle Management, British Car Contracts, Autolease and MBF - have 355,000 vehicles registered with Translease, and this figure is set to increase by close on 100,000 following PHH's acquisition of Fleet Cost Management.

Tony Brown, AT&T Translease sales manager, said 100 new dealers per month were joining the system, and that the Translease network should number 2,000 outlets by the end of this year.
