HERTZ International president Antoine Cau has left the company to take up the position of chief executive with Forte Hotels. He had been president of Hertz International since 1990, and prior to that worked with Hertz in France, Italy and the UK.

His replacement at the car rental giant is Charles Shafer, who will be president of Hertz Europe. He has worked for Hertz for more than 30 years, most recently as division vice-president for Hertz western region in the USA, one of the largest car rental markets in the world, which includes California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. Shafer took up his new role on January 1.
