BCA signs up with SMA

BRITISH Car Auctions has joined the Society of Motor Auctions. The Society now represents the majority of UK auction companies - more than 90% of the estimated 1.4 million vehicles sold through auction annually are disposed of by Society members.

BCA chairman and chief executive Tom Gibson said: 'BCA has been an associate member of the Retail Motor Industry Federation for many years and has been actively involved with both the franchised and independent associations of the Federation, as well as being party to discussions on wider legislative issues affecting the auction sector and the motor industry as a whole.

'Given the increasing complexity in this area, both in the UK and Europe, this latest move into membership of the SMA is a logical step and one which will enable the BCA Group to work more closely with the Society and its parent Federation.'
