MASSIVE increases in the size of the fleet at Peterborough-based Pearl Assurance has led to the firm seeking out a dedicated fleet manager to control its burgeoning number of cars. The firm is investing more than £40,000 a year in the newly-created post, which will refocus fleet work away from human resources staff. It is seeking out an industry professional to control the fleet, which is approaching 2,000 vehicles.

Last year Pearl created a fleet of 1,000 3-series BMWs, which has since grown to 1,500. The company has highlighted the importance of disposal experience for any candidate, a vital role as the fleet reaches replacement age. Although the role of Irene Robjent, who is running the fleet from human resources, would be affected they said her position in the firm would not be changed.
