DAEWOO is hoping to cash in on growing interest from the business car sector by previewing its latest model at next week's Fleet Motor Show. But officials will not know if exhibition examples of the Matiz supermini will be available for display at the Donington Park venue until the last minute. The show opens its four-day run on Monday (May 11).

Twenty-four of the high-spec economy models have been ordered for a round-Britain tour of theme parks and regional attractions four months in advance of public availability. The 800cc five-door model is planned to be on static display only because each pre-sale example is in left-hand-drive form and equipped to home market specification.

The price has not been fixed, but Daewoo expects to sell the basic version for about £6,300 and the better-trimmed one for about £7,000. The car is set to go on sale in September.
