Acoat appoints Vardy for courtesy contract

VARDY Contract Motoring has announced its biggest yet deal with an agreement to supply up to 7,000 courtesy cars a year to Acoat Bodyshop Services. The arrangement will see around 50 cars going to each of the independent bodyshops represented by ABS, which currently stands at 102.

ABS acts as a central buying and marketing club, which provides bulk deals for its members, and is owned by its bodyshop network. It is aiming to have a national network of 135 members, each with its own geographical area. When that is complete demand will peak at around 7,000 cars run on yearly contracts, according to ABS. Models will mainly be made up of Ford Kas and Nissan Micras, although ABS is looking at other suppliers.

It deals with 265,000 repairs a year for clients, including several major insurance companies. This is expect to increase to 350,000 as the national network grows. Although the deal was due to start this week, around 400 vehicles have already been supplied by Vardy Contract Motoring, which supplies around 6,000 vehicles to companies.
