BUDGET Rent a Car has added 10 liquefied petroleum gas Ford Transit vans to its WorldClass Fleet. And the rental giant claims that as its van fleet expands and vehicles are replaced, LPG-powered vehicles will be specified so that in a few years' time LPG will supersede diesel.

The bi-fuelled vans, which also run on petrol, are based at Budget's Heathrow outlet and follow the addition of 50 LPG Ford Mondeos to its fleet earlier this year (February 20). Budget claims its is the first car rental company in the UK to commit to promoting environmentally-friendly fuels.

Fuelled by Calor Autogas, Andrew Taylor, of the fuel supplier, said: 'Budget has gone ahead and done what a lot of other organisations are still talking about. It has embraced LPG technology and is moving forward by demonstrating its commitment in a tangible way.'
