Unipart announces half-year record

UNIPART, one of Europe's leading independent logistics and automotive parts and accessories companies, has announced record turnover of £590.2 million for the first six months of 1999 (1998: £565.6 million). Pre-tax profits are £26.3 million (1998: £15.5 million).

However, group chief executive John Neill warned of 'challenging conditions in the automotive sector' and added: 'Automotive manufacturing still has massive over-capacity and the intensity of competition is increasing almost daily.'
