Partnership scheme to encourage garage best practices

A PARTNERSHIP between the RMI and the London Borough of Barnet will encourage best practice within the motor trade. As part of a series of 30 nationwide Fair Trade initiatives, the scheme aims to improve upon existing standards of service and demonstrate a firm commitment to fair, safe and honest trade.

A spokesman for the RMI said: 'Bearing in mind the recent media spotlight on garage servicing, responsible businesses are naturally keen to ensure that they distance themselves from the disreputable end of the market. Members of the scheme will be visited by members of Barnet Trading Standards for an assessment to become a part of the Responsible Motor Trader scheme.
